Wood Recycling QXR-W Provides Fastest CCA vs. Non-CCA ID - Automated Sorting & Separation System For High Volume Wood Recycling Facilities

Austin, Texas USA, May 12, 2003 Austin AI introduces the QXR-W, a fully automated sorting and separating system designed to identify and remove CCA (chromated copper arsenate) treated wood from wood waste in high volume processing facilities ideal for demolition/deconstruction facilities and mulch manufacturers. The QXR-W's unique, proprietary design provides the fastest ID and separation of CCA from non-CCA treated materials on the market today.

Austin AI's QXR-W will maximize wood recyclers' efforts and increase profits by:

•  Processing 10 to 20+ tons of wood per hour.

•  Maximizing wood quality isolate CCA, large surface nails, tramp metals, other impurities.

•  Minimizing disposal costs accurate CCA determination.

•  Identifying contaminants in wood of any condition - clean, dirty, wet or dry.

•  Minimizing hazardous emissions and materials released into the environment.

•  Returning investment in typically less than 6 months.

The QXR-W is designed for full automation, with very little down time or operator intervention. Operation of this unique system begins when a specialized camera detects the position of wood material moving on a conveyor belt and initiates analysis. When CCA treated wood is detected, a PLC or linear product separation mechanism segregates wood into a collection bin for proper disposal.

The QXR-W continuous on-line system is based on proven wood recycling technology, non-destructive Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF). Benefits of EDXRF for the sorting and separation of wood products include:

•  Speed - high throughput allows 3+ analyses per second

•  Accuracy - 99%+

•  Ruggedness - performs well in the harshest industrial environments

•  Reliability - proven technology

•  Affordability - low cost of ownership and operation

•  Improved Safety - minimal human handling of hazardous material

All QXR-W sorting and separation systems are customized according to customer specification for product volume, speed, and accuracy and include our proprietary software and electronics.

Austin AI is a developer and manufacturer of high-performance, cost-effective custom and automated instrumentation solutions for industries including recycling, chemical, petroleum, environmental, mining, general manufacturing and other applications requiring automated sorting and separation.
